Mary Esther is located in Northwest Florida, in between Fort Walton Beach and Hurlburt Field, and was founded in 1946. During the mid-1850's John Newton, a minister and teacher, settled in the area west of Fort Walton Beach known as the Narrows, today known as Mary Esther.

The mission of Mary Esther Elementary School is to provide a safe, child-centered environment whereby all students become self-directed, lifelong learners.
