The Festival of Flowers is acknowledged as the premier flower and garden event of the greater Gulf Coast. The Festival takes place during what is perhaps Mobile’s prettiest month, with trees leafing out all over and bloomers displaying their splendor. It is arrayed under tent and sky with over 300,000 square feet of exhibits enchant, entertain, and educate visitors at this feast for all the senses.

One of Mobile's finest examples of the Italianate style. Famous for its cast-iron facade depicting the four seasons. National Register (1860). Lavish iron lace decorates the Richards – Daughters of the American Revolution House Museum. This beautiful Town House of the Italianate style tells the story of Mobile during its antebellum period. Steamboat Captain Charles G. Richards and his wife, Caroline Elizabeth Steele, built their dream house in 1860. The Ideal Cement Company purchased the house from Richards’ descendants in 1946. After being turned over to the city of Mobile in 1973, the six Mobile Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution leased the home. The organization is responsible for furnishing and administering it as a Period House Museum.

The Port City Pacers produce the nationally acclaimed Azalea Trail Run. Since the first ATR in 1978, the 10K and the 1 and 2-mile fun runs have grown to attract a field of over 10,000 world-class and recreational runners, walkers, and wheelchair athletes.

Working mostly in oils, I fluctuate between using thin, transparent glazes and thick, textural strokes. My subjects range from ancient iconography to contemporary themes. A lifelong love of music often leads me to paint musical subjects, frequently depicting the "second line" jazz bands found along the Gulf Coast. My art experiences inspire me to teach art to incarcerated women, using the healing freedom of creative thinking to offer them hope by helping them develop a new vision for their lives.

Canopied by a grove of century-old oaks and furnished with fine antiques and crystal chandeliers, the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion offers a rare glimpse of life in the Old South. When it was built in 1855, the house was the center of the lively social life of the thriving cotton port of Mobile. Today, the home is a museum offering guided historic tours.

The school is a member of Montessori Educators of Alabama, the Alabama Association of Licensed Early Care and Education and Gulf Coast Child Development Association. It was accredited through the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education in 1996. In August of 1998 it was announced that Weinacker’s Montessori School would be a finalist in the first annual Alabama Quality Award for Excellence in Education.
