If you are looking for a large flowering shrub to fill your yard with beautiful blooms for the entire summer, the Hibiscus is a perfect choice.

The Hibiscus is a tropical plant common to the island and very popular along the gulf coast. The Hibiscus does well in mild climates where the temperature does not go below freezing. This means you may have to take special care of your Hibiscus at certain times of the year on this part of the gulf coast.

The Hibiscus comes in a variety of pastel colors and produce a large iridescent flower throughout the spring summer and into the fall. This is one reason I favor the Hibiscus over the extremely popular Azalea. The Azalea, although quite a beautiful flower, produces blooms for only a very short time. Since azaleas are not pot plants to be replaced at the end of their flowering period but, rather, will continue to occupy a large portion of your lawn throughout the year, I think the Hibiscus is a much better choice as the flowers last much longer.
