Yes we do drink coffee on the gulf coast. Maybe we don't have the kitchy nirvana grunge with a Wi-Fi, internet developer/mogul, does it ever stop raining here, coffee shop culture and we really don't need it. We do like coffee and you can find that special coffee purveyor on the gulf coast, you may just have to look a little harder. We don't put them on every corner here. Starbucks tried that and found out the gulf coast is very loyal to the homegrown coffee houses they have been going to for years.

Alabama Coffee Shops

Carpe Diem - Mobile, Alabama

"The mental vision we both shared of the perfect coffee shop location was so strong that we agreed to cancel all plans to start the business if we couldn’t secure the old Victorian house of our dreams.

Some things just turn out right; our dream came true when we secured a lease for the 100 year old Victorian style house located in the heart of Springhill (in Mobile, AL). The walls soon became a soothing dark maroon color with dark wood counters, original heart pine floors, a coffee roaster, to create a relaxing atmosphere to converse and connect with the neighborhood.

Now in our 14th year, we’ve been blessed with awesome employees plus we never imagined the personal reward of meeting so many terrific friends and loyal customers alike. We have watched babies turn to teens, young students become parents and doctors, we’ve laughed, cried, and mourned and we would do it all over again.

Southern Grounds Coffee Shop - Gulfport, Mississippi

The story of Southern Grounds Coffeehouse is pretty simple. The owners, (there are two of us and we both call Gulfport home), decided that there was a serious shortage of good places to drink coffee on the Mississippi Coast and that Lorraine Road would be a perfect location to open a coffee shop.
