| This is a short list of items you should consider necessities when preparing for a hurricane. |
- Cash
- Food
- Food for pets
- Water
- Ice
- Water purifier
- Medical Supplies - including any prescription medicines that might run out and not be available after the storm
- Fuel for your car and generator
- Flashlights
- matches
- Candles
- Coleman Stove or a charcoal grill and fuel to run them
- Portable (battery powered) Radio
- Cell phone - fully charged
- Batteries to fit flashlights, radios and anything else you will be using that runs on battery power.
- List of telephone numbers you might need to take with you if you need to evacuate.
- Some good books
|
| The list could go on forever and is somewhat dependent on you capabilities. If you have no generator your food stocks should be of a nonperishable nature. |
| If you should be called upon to evacuate you should carry food in the car as you may be on the road for awhile and may find it hard to find food or other supplies along the way. |
